We Say Lollapalooza's Got The Best LIne-Up This Year

Lollapalooza’s Austin, Texas-based promoters C3 Presents are not scheduled to make their official announcement of the acts performing at this year’s weekend-long music festival in Grant Park until Monday, but the Sun-Times has confirmed through industry sources all of the major artists.

Art-rock giants Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails, the reunited Rage Against the Machine, Jack White’s side project the Raconteurs and hometown heroes Wilco and Kanye West will headline the main stages on Aug. 1-3.

The Raconteurs, Wilco and West will each be making their second appearance at the reinvented destination festival. Other repeaters among the more than 100 acts on this year’s bill are Gnarls Barkley, the Black Keys, Broken Social Scene, G. Love & Special Sauce, Blues Traveler and Mates of State.

Quite a few of the other acts — including many of the most promising — have earlier performed at Chicago’s two independently produced music festivals, Pitchfork and Intonation. These include Bloc Party, Cat Power, Stephen Malkmus, Girl Talk, Kid Sister, Office, the Cool Kids, Battles, the Go! Team, Jamie Lidell and Grizzly Bear.

Advance three-day passes are now on sale for a limited time for $190 (after which the price increases to $205) at Gander On!

New Raconteurs Album out next Tuesday

It seems that the rumors floating around the last two days are true. Rollingstone.com today confirmed that the Raconteurs will release their second album to be titled "Consolers of the Lonely" Tuesday, March 25th In an effort to get their music to their fans as their website states "As quikly as possible." The website goes on to quote them as saying “We wanted to get this record to fans, the press, radio, etc., all at the EXACT SAME TIME so that no one has an upper hand on anyone else regarding its availability, reception or perception.” You can be sure that well have reviews of this album as well as their upcomming Coachella performance as soon as possible. Signs of Life from the Whirlwind Heat Camp

After April Fool's Day rumors of a Whirlwind breakup, there is evidence of life left in Whirlwind Heat. One of our favorite bands, the Heatboys from Grand Rapids are spread across the country these days with no tours in sight. Fear not, a new album looms. David Swanson, a founding/surviving member of the moog-crazy trio recently sat down with Rich Tupica of Turn it Down.

In the interview, Mr. Swanson talked about recording a new Whirlwind Heat album, filming his own videos, and the extinction of CDs. Influenced by bands from the state of Washington, Swanson is a true artist with a DIY work ethic.
