Kate Nash Live Update

Gearing up for the major European music festivals this summer, that sweet little Brit Kate Nash took the west coast by storm the past few weeks. We just can't get enough of her, so here's a little update on what she has been up to if you missed anything....

Last Night, Miss Nash closed the NME Awards USA Tour in LA at the Henry Fonda Theatre. She has been playing with The Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players and last night invited

 14-year-old Rachel Trachtenburg on stage to drum with the band. Later in the evening, bouncers tried to remove Miss Trachtenburg from the side of the stage at which point Miss Nash stopped in the middle of her hit song, Foundations, and said, "I know it's not professional, but she's in the band, she's not leaving." Kate played before a rowdy Friday night crowd at Seattle's historic Showbox Theatre (Market, 5/9/08). The crowd was so excited to have Miss Nash in town that they had to be routinely shushed. She was in great spirits and played two encores!  Read what the Seattle PI said about the show.

The Kate Nash Coachella set was fiery to say the least. Our sources tell us she had a big blowout with her boyfriend backstage after the show, which could have explained her intense stage demeanor. Regardless, the temperature was hot both figuratively and literally, and this was one show not to miss. One of the things we love most about Kate's performance is the heavy inclusion of percussion. At times, all the members of her band will be banging on something. And the beat runs deeper than just the drums, as Miss Nash uses her piano to pound her soul into each piano tune. We are huge fans of former Maccabees drummer Elliot Andrews. That guy can really pound! He adds a strong backbone to the music and instantly gives Miss Nash credibility in the world of rock. This does not imply she needs the credibility, but should be noted when your friends compare your love for Kate to just another chick-pop crush.

My Bloody Valentine May Reunite For Coachella 08'

We always love news from our favorite festival and this is good. Here's hoping that earthquake their overdue for doesn't hit before then.

My Bloody Valentine are rumoured to be reuniting for the Caochella Valley Music & Arts Festival next year.

It is understood that the organisers of the festival have been pursuing the band to play the festival for several years.

As previously reported Shields told Magnet magazine that he is "100 per cent" sure that the band are going to record again.

The group have been inactive since 1995, although rumours are rife that the band are working on a new album and a box set featuring unreleased material, originally due to be released on Creation back in 2000, just before the label shut down.

Coachella booker Paul Tollett declined to comment on the reports.

However, the festival is known for luring dormant groups such as Rage Against The Machine and The Jesus And Mary Chain to the festival.

Shields' manager Vinita Joshi told Electric Roulette website that there were "no confirmed shows at all".

Apparently Coachella is about a hundred and fifty years overdue for an earthquake that could cause billions of dollars in damages. We say that if Bjork's booming bass and Rage's reunion didn't do it this year then we should be fine..that is until next years Smiths Van Halen, Led Zeppelin reunion spectacular. The site of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is 300 years overdue for a massive earthquake, experts say.

The Coachella Valley, which lies between the San Andreas and San Jacinto faults, could face a magnitude 7.8 quake that could last more than 100 seconds, kill thousands, destroy homes, collapse the I-10 and I-15 freeways, ignite petroleum pipelines and leave thousands homeless, according to US seismologist Lucy Jones.

"There will be several thousand dead and billions of dollars in damage," Jones said. She also indicated that the quake could topple buildings as far away as Los Angeles, which lies 150 miles west, reports the Los Angeles Times.

Historically, major earthquakes have occurred in the Coachella Valley every 150 years, but for unexplained reasons, it has not faced a quake in more than 300 years. Gander On!

The album falls right at the top of our 07 favorites list and we don't see it falling out of the top 3 anytime this year. The Fratellis, Worried About Their Self-Respect?

The Fratellis have turned down a chance to record the official song for David Beckham's first game as an LA Galaxy player.

The Scots, who were asked to re-record The Beatles' 'Hello Goodbye' for the July football match, reportedly said, "No fucking way," according to Dotmusic.

"We've turned down a huge list of ridiculous things like that," said frontman Jon Fratelli. "We're not a bunch of travelling salesmen. If we don't get successful on our own terms then we won't do it at all."

He added: "We were like, 'No fucking way.' It would have got us noticed, of course, but we'd have lost our self-respect."

So the band that got it's big break by having there song used in an Ipod commercial is now acting like they are above all of that. Give me a break! If you don't want to be known as traveling salesman you should start by not telling everyone to buy Ipods after you sing "Flathead" at Coachella. Oh, and if you want the respect of your fans how about not canceling your tour and only playing the corporate dates because you were tired. You may have kept your self-respect but you just lost ours. Gander On!

Busdriver - "Avantcore"

I heard a lot about these guys at Coachella but never saw them. Now I've come across this great video for their song "Avantcore." They have a real interesting sound, reminds me a little of early DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince.

New Justice Video

I danced my ass off for Justice at Coachella on Saturday and it seems that a lot of other people did too. Justice had to of had one of the best sets of the festival and if you need more to fuel your soul check out the new video for D.A.N.C.E.

Gander On!

At The Airport.

Not many updates yesterday so here is what happened. I arrived for The Roots and saw one of the most memorable shows of the weekend. Next it was Willie Nelson where I got a great shot of Johnny Knoxville and Jay Chandraskar rocking out. Next was Crowded House, during the only song they have that most people would recognize a Rage Against the Machine fan hit him flush in the face with a water bottle, I got some great video after it happened. Manu Chau came out next and rocked the house, stirring the Rage fans into a frenzy. After Seven hours of standing in place and getting squished around I finally made it to the second row for Rage. The crowd was way to calm before Rage and you could feel that it was going to erupt when they came out and sure enough as soon as the first bass line hit the entire crowd began to swirl into a giant mosh pit. I would have gladly stood another day if I knew what I was in for, it was one og the single greatest experiences in my life. Thank You Rage, Coachella, and Everyone else for an amazing three days in the desert. Gander On!

Sitting in the car

The Fratellis

The Fratellis went on late but it didn't matter. From the opening song the crowded tent was jumping up and down and singing along. Higlights of set included Flathead and after the band made sure to tell the crowd to buy ipods. A strokes cover was thrown in and the set could not have ended better as thousands of people started singing along to Sweet Caroline as they shuffled out to the next adventure. Gander On!

I Hoppin'

Having some breakfast at Ihop before we head to the show. Going to attempt to get to the rail for Rage Against the Machine . New game to try 20 questions but with actors and actress. Gander On!

Day two recap.

I stopped blogging because there was no service but here is the recap. After taking a nap after The Decemberists. And Kings of Leon I woke up to The Arcade Fire playing Intervention. The Sahara tent was the only place I went. Justice, LCD Soundsystem, and The Rapture kept me dancing for the next four hours. If you don't know about Laser Hands you soon will thanks to Nick and Chris. Day two was one to be remembered our collective spirit index went past twelve. Gander On!

Arcade Fire

I can't stop smiling, everyone is dancing it doesn't get any better than this. Looks like day two really took it's toll on people lots of sleeping people on the polo grounds. Gander On!

Drown Out

Couldn't really hear The Decemberists over Kings of Leon, it didn't sound good anyway. Thumbs down for me, first let down of the weekend. Gander On!

Entourage Sighting

Just saw the girl that plays Vince's girlfriend in the episode"The script and the Sherpa" Shes a Kings of Leon Fan. Gander On!

Stratego

To find the coldest water go to the place serving the weirdest food. The flow of people is much less. Todays winner seafood stuffed artichokes. They were served cold and that turned a lot of people away. Gander On!
