Frodo Baggins to Play Iggy Pop

In the words of Weezer front man Rivers Cuomo "Say it Ain't So!!!" Elijah Wood will play Iggy Pop in an upcoming biopic. Who the hell came up with this idea some studio exec high on that new strawberry flavored crystal meth. I am at a loss for words and hopefully this movie ends up with a lack of production funds. Gander on for the Article.

As previously reported, actor gone record label head Elijah Wood, aka Frodo Baggins, will play the part of Iggy Pop in a forthcoming biopic documenting the muscular, sinewy rock star and his debauchery ridden life. And now the project has been issued a fitting title, The Passenger, coined from Pop's 1977 album Lust for Life, and is tentatively slated for a mid-summer 2008 release, Variety.com reports. Variety says Pop has given his blessing to the project but will reportedly not appear or aid its production.

Some credits for The Passenger: Nick Gomez (Drowning Mona) directs, Eric Schmid is the screenwriter, and the team behind the Ian Curtis biopic, Control, produces. Shooting for The Passenger will begin in the next six months, and with a time frame like that, it would be wise for Elijah Wood to drop to the ground and crank out at least 10,000 sit-ups and push-ups, like right now.

Frodo Baggins was considerably the most courageous hobbit who ever lived, who lost his mental and physical health in the Quest of the Ring...Iggy was considered the most outrageous rocker of his time, who lost his mental and physical health in the Quest for the perfect drug...

I wonder id Elijah will give his buddies Apples in Stereo a cameo to make up for the horrible video he directed for them.
